One teenage boy was discovered deceased only a few days following being wrongly blamed of taking the ashes of a dead infant during a burglary, an inquest has learned.

Heartbreaking Discovery

The young boy's parents discovered his remains in his room at his Flintshire residence on November 19th, 2021.

Untrue Accusations Begin

The inquest learned how his mother got a message on 8 November 2021 via social media, from a woman asking if her son was her child. The communication added: "Tell him thanks for burgling my apartment."

In a statement presented to the court, Lisa Lloyd said the individual had been in the news, claiming her baby's ashes had been taken in a break-in - a allegation which was false.

Law Enforcement Inquiry

An investigation report from police later determined the alleged burglary victim had "lied to police" and "evidence shows that the property was not taken in the beginning".

News coverage about the supposed taken ashes attracted online responses, and although Kai was not named in the messages, his parent said individuals "understood it was him".

The "social media content were really distressing", she stated.

Mental Wellbeing Impact

She added that Kai had been identified with moderate ADHD, and as part of that condition, other peoples' opinions really were important to him.

"This must have affected him severely," she commented, "particularly when this was untrue".

Kai was detained at his residence, but no evidence was discovered. He was taken to a police station and later released pending further inquiry.

Authorities said they would be in touch, the hearing heard, but had not reached out to the relatives by the moment of his passing.

Withdrawal and Worry

His parent said Kai "became isolated" after the arrest and "repeatedly inquired me whether I had received anything from the authorities", because his condition meant sometimes "certain periods could seem like much longer".

When she talked to him about the supposed incident, she said her son told her he had gone into the house because the resident who lived there had said he could utilize the bathroom whenever he wanted, but denied taking anything.

Online Bullying

In a joint statement between her and her spouse, the mother said her child was being bullied online after the allegations.

The proceedings heard that a young adult urged the teenager to end his life.

She had no concerns on the night before he died, explaining how she had listened to him "laughing and teasing".

She portrayed him as a "caring, loving" young man, and said her "relatives is completely devastated".

He had been "clearly hiding his concerns", she stated, adding that he could not bear to have anyone "think bad of him".

School Reaction

The inquest received testimony from school personnel at the local secondary school.

On November 8th, she "overheard some boys talking that the student had been arrested and that was the initial I heard".

"He informed me... he'd done nothing wrong," she continued.

After the conversation, the educator said she rang Kai's family telephone and provided a message saying she had communicated to Kai about the allegations.

The court heard his family said they did not receive that communication.

Official Finding

Lead coroner informed the inquest he would await reports regarding what enhancements had been made to dealing with individuals with the condition, before deciding whether he should make a prevention of future deaths report.

Delivering a narrative conclusion, he said: "Around November 8th, 2021, unsupported accusations were made against Kai Benjamin Lloyd, a young individual.

"Probably untruths were afterwards embellished and amplified through the medium of online networks.

"On 11 November, he was questioned by the authorities and after his interview he was released while inquiries proceeded."

The coroner concluded: "Exists no evidence that the actions or omissions of any organization caused or contributed to his death and although it was the outcome of a self-inflicted action it is impossible to discern his intent."
